Demonstration Farming
AgriWater Uganda, with the support of partners and donors, is establishing a one-stop model demonstration farm-school. This center will showcase various irrigation systems, introduce modern farming methods, and provide hands-on learning to tackle common agricultural challenges. Our goal is to empower farmers with knowledge, connect them through co-operatives, and strengthen their ability to advocate for support from government and stakeholders.

Farming Classes
AgriWater is currently conducting classes in farming at our demonstration farm. The curriculum encompasses everything from seed selection through post harvest. Students are trained in good argonomic practices as well as being trained to be teachers for future groups. By exposing community groups in sustainable farming practices, AgriWater is able to accelerate its impact in Eastern Uganda. This education, combined with our community pump program, empowers individuals to become self-sufficient and gain access to opportunities and choices that were once out of reach.

Irrigation Education
For sustainable production, we need water during times of severe drought. Our year-round access to water along with our pumps and hoses, we are able to produce 12 months of the year. Teaching others good agronomy practices along with good irrigation processes is what AgriWater Uganda does best.

Teaching Self Sufficiency
AgriWater is committed to supporting women in the communities we serve. By giving them access to demonstration farm plots and a reliable source of vegetables, they can consistently provide for their families—helping ease the burden of food scarcity.

Fish Farming
At the AgriWater Uganda demo farm, fish farming is one of the activities demonstrated. We are looking at the best practices in fish farming that suits our local context. Our findings will help local farmers in fish production. AgriWater also partners with the local government plan is how to strengthen fish production.

Micro-Scale Irrigation Program
The Micro-scale Irrigation Program helps local communities buy and use irrigation equipment. The program is part of Uganda’s National Irrigation Policy that aims to create more irrigated land by the year 2040. The program helps Ugandan farmers buy irrigation equipment at a lower cost as well as education on how and when to water crops.

Apiculture (AKA Bee Keeping)
Apiculture (or Bee Keeping) is one of the activities conducted at our demonstration farm. Bee Farming is a cost free venture after colonization of the hives. Farmers then manage the hives, check surrounding conditions, and at the end of the season harvest honey. We plan to sell each liter of distilled honey, which can be sold locally for Ugx 25,000 - 30,000.

Government Parterships
AgriWater Uganda, in partnership with Katakawi District Local government, was able to able to receive vegetables seed kits from the production department with support from the government of Uganda Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries. AgriWater Uganda is establishing farmer field schools that focuses on conducting trials on different seed types and thereafter advising our farmers on the best seed they should take for production.
